    What’s on in Exmoor and North Devon

    There's always something going on in the Exmoor and North Devon area such as local food festivals, live music, arts and crafts. We've suggested some interesting dates for your Devon diary in 2019.

    Saturday 6th – Sunday 21st -Discover National Parks fortnight, many diverse events including guided walks, treasure trails, seaside safaris and local food and drinks.
    14th-17th April – Have a go Archery, 11am-4pm Dunster Castle
    Sunday 14th April- Activity day at Exmoor Pony Centre.
    Monday 15th April- Lynmouth Boat Trip, look for rare nesting birds along the coastline west of Lynmouth. Commentary from an Exmoor National Park Ranger. £20.00 To book 01598 752509
    Friday 26th and Saturday 27th April- Inspired by the Hitchcock classic, The Lady Vanishes at the Queens Theatre Barnstaple
    Saturday 27th April- Minehead Literary Festival.
    Saturday 27th April-Shammick Acoustic Concert: A talented young trio of musicians and singers at the Pack of Cards pub, high street, Combe Martin.

    Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th -Armada Alert with the Taunton Garrison 10am-4pm Skirmishes, weapons displays and a living history camp at Dunster Castle.
    Monday 6th – Friday 21st June- Simonsbath Festival, starting with a May Day celebration in Exford events include concerts, talks, Torfaen Welsh Choir, folk, Opera, Gypsy Swing, art poetry and guided walks.
    Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th May- Painting the Landscape of Lorna Doone. Painting course in Winsford Community Hall -Fee £74
    Friday May 17th- Imagine: The John Lennon Songbook at the Queens Theatre Barnstaple- Imagine tells the legendary story of John Lennon, from his dramatic rise to fame as a Beatle through to his iconic solo career.
    Saturday 18th May- Literature Day School- Lorna Doone Exford Memorial Hall – Fee £35
    Saturday 18th May- Pigstock festival the Bug Sheep- Kick start your summer of 2019 with North Devon’s friendliest festival! Headline acts throughout the day on the main stage (Midday – 10.30pm) include Jo Whiley, Electric Swing Circus, The ShowHawk Duo, Doctor and the Medics, Eliza and the Bear, Laid Blak and Andy Day.

    June 2019
    Saturday 1st June- 42ND STREET Queens Theartre Barnstaple- This is the story of hard work, being in the right place at the right time, talent and love.

    June21st-23rd- Live music, arts and culture by the fantastic beach at Croyde Bay with nearby beach sports.

    Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th June- Dulverton Summer Festival, a weekend of Lorna Doone celebrations with re-enactment of the scenes in period dress from the novel. There will be plenty of music, a magic lantern show and story telling as well as stores from local traders. On Sunday there will be a banquet and films showing on the lawns.

    Sunday 30th June- North Devon AONB Marathon & Half Marathon- The multi-terrain course involves roads, trails, beaches, fields, steps and the incredible South West Coast Path. Also known also as ‘The Cream Tea Marathon’, runners are treated to a traditional Devon Cream Tea at the finish line! one of the must-do events in the running world.     July 2019
    Saturday 20th July- The World Famous Elvis Show at the Queens Theatre Barnstaple- Starring and produced by world renowned Elvis performer Chris Connor. With his 12 piece live band The Steels, and backing vocals by The Sweet Harmonie

     

    September 2019
    Open water swim in a dramatic location offering courses of 2km and 4km with medals for the top 3 in each age group.   Exmoor swim

     

    November 2019
    14 November to 4 January. Glow and winter sculpture exhibition at RHS Rosemoor Gardens. Garden trail with stunning winter illuminations providing a festive walk around the winter sculptures in the gardens.

    February 2020
    Snowdrop Valley
    Early February to early March Wheddon Cross – Snowdrop Valley a privately owned remote valley is open to visitors to see the wonderful display of snowdrops. There will be buses running. Ticket price to be confirmed.
    Walking access into the valley along the local bridleways and footpaths is available throughout the month.
