    What’s on in Exmoor and North Devon

    There's always something going on in the Exmoor and North Devon area such as local food festivals, live music, arts and crafts. We've suggested some interesting dates for your Devon diary in 2019.

    Saturday 1st June- 42ND STREET Queens Theartre Barnstaple- This is the story of hard work, being in the right place at the right time, talent and love.

    June21st-23rd- Live music, arts and culture by the fantastic beach at Croyde Bay with nearby beach sports.

    Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th June- Dulverton Summer Festival, a weekend of Lorna Doone celebrations with re-enactment of the scenes in period dress from the novel. There will be plenty of music, a magic lantern show and story telling as well as stores from local traders. On Sunday there will be a banquet and films showing on the lawns.

    Sunday 30th June- North Devon AONB Marathon & Half Marathon- The multi-terrain course involves roads, trails, beaches, fields, steps and the incredible South West Coast Path. Also known also as ‘The Cream Tea Marathon’, runners are treated to a traditional Devon Cream Tea at the finish line! one of the must-do events in the running world.     Sunday 7th July- FB Pocket Orchestra Jazz Concert, 6pm Hot Jazz, Blues, Rag Time, from the 1920s and 1930s. Bring a picnic and find a spot on the Orangery lawn, Hestercombe.com 01823 413923

    Saturday 20th July- The World Famous Elvis Show at the Queens Theatre Barnstaple- Starring and produced by world renowned Elvis performer Chris Connor. With his 12 piece live band The Steels, and backing vocals by The Sweet Harmonie

    Sunday 28th July- Minehead and Exmoor Music Feastival. Concerts feature the Festival Orchestra conducted by Richard Dickens. 01643 706403.

    Saturday 3rd Aug- Lorna Doone Walk, 1am-3pm Badgworthy Water & Lancombe. Tea and Coffee break & Lunch Stop, bring our own food and drink.  The event is Free.

    Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th August- RNLI Weekend and Maritine Festival. Clovelly yacht race sponsored swim and lifeboat display. Stalls and entertainments.

    Sunday 4th August- Porlock Country Fair, Shows, crafts, hog roast bar and Pimm’s tent. Attendence £3

    Saturday 10th August- Combe Martain Carnival Week. BBQ, Duck race, Carnival parade, raft race, fireworks.

    Sunday 11th August- Brendon Show- One of the oldest horse shows on Exmoor.

    Friday 16th August- Dunster Show- On the lawns below Dunster Castle, Bands, Demonstrations, craft and trade tents, Comprtitive showing of horses, cattle and sheep.

    Friday 23rd August – Queens Theatre Barstaple,  That That’ll Be The Day Back by ever-growing popular demand, get ready to party as the UK’s favourite Rock & Roll variety production returns with another chance to see its latest most popular show!

    Open water swim in a dramatic location offering courses of 2km and 4km with medals for the top 3 in each age group.   Exmoor swim

    Friday 13th Sept- Queens Theatre Barnstaple, UK Pink Floyd Experience. Celebrating 50 Years of Pink Floyd, UK Pink Floyd Experience recreate the sights and sounds of the legendary Pink Floyd band in concert.


    November 2019
    14 November to 4 January. Glow and winter sculpture exhibition at RHS Rosemoor Gardens. Garden trail with stunning winter illuminations providing a festive walk around the winter sculptures in the gardens.

    February 2020
    Snowdrop Valley
    Early February to early March Wheddon Cross – Snowdrop Valley a privately owned remote valley is open to visitors to see the wonderful display of snowdrops. There will be buses running. Ticket price to be confirmed.
    Walking access into the valley along the local bridleways and footpaths is available throughout the month.
